Tandem First ever Tandem 25 year reunion!

[Spring 1998 In Tandem] [Reunion 1998] [Registration] [Dear Alumni] [Calendar] [Matching Funds] [Contact] [Home]

You are invited! Please join us. Help bring out the whole Tandem alumni community to the first ever celebration of 25 years off the hill for the class of 1973.

Dear alumni and faculty past and present,
Reunion planning is underway. You are invited to share in the celebration of the first ever 25 year reunion at Tandem. If you graduated in 1973, 1978, 1983, 1988, or 1993, it's your 25, 20, 15, 10, or 5 year reunion already! All alumni and faculty past and present are invited to come out to Tandem's new field house for activates and events in celebration of this milestone in Tandem's history.

Please note: Reunion is no longer joined with graduation weekend. Mark the date change on your calendar. Check out the weekend's itinerary and start making plans to attend today!

Shouldn't your name be here?
Reunion 1998 Events

Friday, June 12
Class parties arranged by class representatives will be taking place all over the city. If you are interested in hosting or planning a class party, contact your class rep (see In Tandem if you don't know who that is) or the Alumni Affairs Office at (434) 296-1303, extension 35.

Saturday, June 13
Noon: Saturday will start with the annual summer meeting of the Alumni Council. Council members should meet at Tandem. Gourmet sandwiches and juice will be served. Please indicate any dietary restrictions on the registration form. Agendas will be mailed at a later date. Council members who have items to add to the agenda should contact Alumni Affairs.

7 p.m. to... There's a hole in your life, right? A great void that should have been filled by that pivotal event in everyone's high school experience, the prom. Fear no more, the Tandem "anti-prom" will be held in the brand new Tandem field house. Music, food, dancing, chatting with old classmates and teachers, wandering the campus after dark, what more could you ask? Hors d'oeuvres and drinks, accompanied by a live jazz performance; DJ and Dancing afterwards. Sign-up for Sunday sports.

Sunday, June 14
1 p.m. Remember the Spring Day tug-o-war and pyramid building competitions? Remember how Tom O'Connor used to wear you out on the basketball court? Come rekindle those special feelings while competing against fellow alumni and faculty. Tandem will provide juices and water. Pre-register now for basketball, soccer, tug-o-war, etc. or sign-up at the "anti-prom."

3 p.m. We will take a break from competition for a chat session with head of school Rosalyn Berne. This is your chance to make your voice heard as a vital part of the whole Tandem community. In the past, alumni have shared questions and suggestions for Tandem, as well as memories of faculty, classes, and students.

Note & save five dollars: Registration will ensure that your name is placed on our list and you will pay $15 for the "anti-prom." Non-registrants will pay $20 at the door. While we urge you to send your fees now, please register even if you do not pay. We need a fairly accurate count so we can order food ahead of time.

Dear Alumni,

This summer I will be leaving Tandem to accept a full-time teaching position. Though I am sad to be leaving a job with which I feel a very personal connection, my dreams lie elsewhere. Head of school, Rosalyn Berne, and Director of Development, Laura Jackson, have asked me to put the call out to the Tandem alumni community in order to fill the position of Alumni Affairs Coordinator. There is a special knowledge of the school that comes from being a former student. The school would very much like to hire an alumnus/a to fill the position.

The position is part-time, but ever-growing as the alumni body grows and changes. The hours are flexible and the atmosphere is, as you know, relaxed and welcoming. I look forward to acquainting one of you with the job. Contact information is below. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Adrienne Johnstone-Taylor
Alumni Affairs Coordinator

A reminder to alumni: Matching Funds

Tandem has been offered a matching grant for alumni giving. All alumni donations will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $20,000. In addition, if 50% of alumni give, we will receive an additional $10,000. The money will be used for faculty endowment, which was named as one of the priorities for alumni fundraising at last year's Alumni Council meeting.

If you have not already, please consider sending a donation to the school today. A donation of my amount will go a long way toward reaching the 50% giving goal. Donations may be included with registration fees or sent separately. Thanks.

Special message to the classes of 1991-1997: Send back those pennies!
