Albert Callais

The last business he had was the manufacture of burial vaults and any thing concrete, like driveways, sidewalks you name it he did it. He even cut headstones and manufactured tombs. There are still several examples in St. John Cemetery.

There's even some vault covers that he made that had a bas relief on the top that they would paint in all sorts of colors and shapes. A lot of the headstones were cut by hand back then. It is an artform that he fooled around with.
