In the book, Edouard kept all these very good records of who he cut, and he'd make
two copies. He gave one to the people, and then, I guess one was upside-down , 'cause he'd make
both at the same time, and he kept one. Some of them were lost. he would travel back and forth
with all of this luggage and all of these cut-outs and so-forth that he did, and, they were in a ship
wreck once and some were lost then. They don't know about the others. but there were plenty.
Sombody told me they had seen one in the French Quarter, that he did. You know, I guess in
antique shops you can find them, and of course this Antiques magazine has had an article about it
since, which I read about, and I think I wrote to them to.
In this particular one I have its the whole Slack family. I do not know some of them, but in the
index of this man's book, he listed all of the ones he knew of, and this family is listed, and he has
some of their names so Iv'e actually identified some of them by that.

But there are three people,
three children, that I have not, cause, they look like girls, but they used to dress little boys with
(girls' clothing) but they just don't fit any of the ones I know. But there are some members of the
family of course that I don't know about. I can find out, I'm trying to, through New York, because
the family, my great, great grandmother came from New York, and I think part of that might be...
she probably had a sister that moved to the New Orleans area also. Through the book you know,
I've gone down the whole index to try to see if any names fit of anybody and I haven't been able
to. But, um, most of the ones that are in the book are identified by who they are. Well in mine
there's a slave, and I think its the one, the slave, that was buried with the Slack family in Magnolia
cemetery, because she's right there with them, and she was a devoted person and they were
devoted to her, and I guess she took care of just the children, I think. But, it was interesting to
find and I value it very much.
